just shy of 2 quarts if you fill up the the 3/8npt plug in the side of the houseing. I just buy 2 quarts of 80w-90 conventional GL-4 or better gear lube and the additive, works well for torsens and auburns. Put the additive in first.
If you jack up the back of the car and spin the passenger side forward with the car in gear or park and the drivers side tire spins the opposite way like an open carrier you have a torsen. If they dont spin at all with the car in park, take the car out of gear or park and spin the drivers side forward and you will see that the passenger side spins the same direction than you have a auburn.
Auburns only work with conventional oil and the additive, no synthetic for auburn.
torsens work in either synthetic or conventional and GM published a bulletin stating that if the torsen rear eminated a "rusty screw" noise to add posi additive in efforts to eliminate the noise.
Therefore, by simply saying that you should ad two quarts convantional oil with the additive you are covering all your bases if you do not know which carrier you have.
