Default Another shift kit question TCI guys

I bought a motor and tranny out of a wrecked car to do a swap into an older camaro. I bought a stall convertor and a TCI shift kit to put in the tranny before I got it on the road this spring.
Well I started installing the shift kit and got the the part where you replace the 1-2 accumulator spring, and you remove the 3-4 accumulator spring. Well the 3-4 spring was already removed and the piston was installed upside down. Did some trannys come this way from the factory, or did this tranny already have a shift kit installed in it? And if it had a shift kit installed already what problems if any am I going to run into? I completed the install of the TCI kit as per the instructions.

Sorry I can`t help you out on your question, but I`m thinking about a TCI shift kit myself and was wondering how your install went? I don`t think too many guys on the site have used the TCI kits. Or at least nobody is willing to talk about them. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Install is really easy and well laid out and explained in the instructions. I had my tranny out of the car, so that made the install a little easier.

It is not uncommon for the average tranny builder to remove accumulator springs and/or check *****. Sometimes they drill out holes in the separator plate, too. This kind of rebuild, to some degree, is a shift kit. But it is hard to say if the builder replaced any springs in the valve body. I would turn the 2-3-accumulator piston right side up and continue with the TCI shift kit. If you are uncomfortable with this, then go to a local tranny shop and buy a stock valve body and install the TCI kit in stock v.b.
