Re: anyone broke a 10 bolt? raises hand... sure, they break pretty easily. GM gears suck. if you're a m6er you need a 12 bolt or 9" pretty soon after you learn to dump the clutch on slicks. a4 guys can usually get away with bigger converters, slicks and power adders.

I have broke 2 10 bolts since July 02 and currently just installed my 3rd one with 4.10s <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Maybe this one will hang on till i get a 12 bolt. Re: anyone broke a 10 bolt? Oh by the way. Street StalkerZ are 4.10s in a 10 bolt even weaker than the stock gears? I thought they were cause the teeth are that much thinner to get them to fit.

Yep the 4.10s are a weaker gear <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> Only reason i went with them is because the cam was needing more gear with my stall. Maybe i can keep this one around awhile. My first 10 bolt held up for 4 years with 3.42/3.73s cutting low 1.6 to high 1.5 60fts the whole time,maybe this last one was a dud <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />

Re: anyone broke a 10 bolt? I shreaded half of my ring gears and about 1/4 or the pinion gear teeth in my 10 bolt. My power level was about 360ish RWHP and I was speed shifting to 4th gear on the freeway with Goodyear Eagle F1s 275-40zr-17 with approx. 20% thread left. As I was coasting to a stop on the burm the rear locked up at about 10mph with an adrupt stop and broke the clutch by doing so. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

First time running high low 13's. LOL I actualy pulled a 12.85 @ 111.22 on broken gears inside the carier couz I did not know it was broken.
Got it repaired with 3:73 this time.
They lasted for about 35-40 passes with Heads & Cam. I ran a 11.85 before the 10-Bolt broke. This time I took out the drivers side axle, the gears, and the pinion was hanging by a thread. Prolly damaged it hard on the first pass of the night, then broke them on the launch of the second pass. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Now I have a Strange 12-Bolt and I Love It!
