Hey z-rated, A servo is a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly that controls the application and release of a transmission band. In your case, it controls 2nd and fourth gear. The theroy is the bigger the apply area of the piston the more holding power the servo has. The corvett servo, for the 4l60e transmission,is the biggest "stock" servo that gm makes. There are after markets that are bigger giving more holding power and aggressive shifting pattrens. I hope this helps.

LOL @ Rob. thanks guys. that helped me better understand the tranny. i understand that they should be the same from 4th gen f-bodys to the C5s. but Derek from TCS stated differently... saying that it would benifit me more to get the vette servo, that its better than the one i have in my car. so im lost <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> plus there cheap like $45.

and, if you have a V8 4th gen F-body, you already have the Vette servo...the piston-within-a-piston arrangements are all billet aftermarket parts. You likely don't need that stuff unless you have a stroker, forced induction, or Nawwwwsss.
