alot of shops will up labor charges to install customer supplied parts. the shop relies on markup percentages from the parts and labor they sell to cover overhead costs and keep the doors open. just the way it works. you usually have a easier time getting things covered by warranties if there is an issue with the parts purchased through the installer.
Its up to you to accept their quote.
I would go with a quality shop that has a good rep before himming and hawwing over 100$

you dsont necessarily have to go to a rear end specialist... if its only a gear swap its not that big of A deal.. but definitely get someone who knows what there doing... my uncles a mechanic and he usually charges like maybe 150 just for a rear swap and like 250 if he has to redo the carrier and ****.. then again thats personal time so.... try finding someone who will do it on the side who has the right eqipment to dial it in.. it aint cheap i can tell u that... i think by time mine was done... pshh it was like damn near 950 bucks with my auburn posi unit, gears, install kit, and labor...... i like how the damn install kit isnt included.... asssholes..............
Holy crap Tick has some nice labor rates. If I didn't have access to the garage that I just stumbled across I would be saving up and driving down for a nice week to drop the car off to them.
I would not do this yourself. I would take it only to the very most reputable places. Only places that deal with performance cars, not Marathon or Joe the Auto Mechanic. Check out a sponsor.
