Rear Axle?

Rear Axle? Ok here is the story. About a Week ago I was in school and one of my good friends somehow managed to get ahold of my keys and was driving my car around. Of course he is not use to my car, he is use to an AWD 5.9L Grand Cherokee. But anyways, he was going around a turn and nailed it, the car immediately spun sideways, when he corrected it, he oversteered and spun it out the other way. Then it hit a curb basically snapped my rim in half, and now after a new rim ($558)i figured out my rear passenger side axle is bent. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> I was wondering if anyone knew if i could just get that axle somewhere or weather i should replace the whole rear.
Re: Rear Axle? Quick answer, Yes, you should be able to get a axle from a Junkyard and simply replace, then check for NE other problems. BUT, if you want to maintain the integrity of your car, get the axle then have a shop check the remaining parts within, you can knock the bearings, pinion angle and other stuff out of whack and not necessarily know it. I had a similar incident happen a decade ago when my 79'Z spun into a gaurd stop, tore the wheel apart, bent the drivers axle a bit. Replaced the axle and all was well, but that is more application specific so to be safe, have someone look at it even if the new axle "feels" and rides "right". Good-luck, and watch your keys man.
