The verdict on 4.10's...
So pretty much from what all I have read is that they are a great SOTP performance mod and are fine until you get sticky tires. So to sum it up just no sticky tires and they are good to go right?!?

i'm assuming your referring to the effects it will have on 10 bolt?
from what i have read, with a manual... stickies tires and high rpm launches are no good for the stock 10 bolt, gears or not... and 4.10's are that much worse of a hit. but like ne thing else its a gamble

Yes I know that even with stock gears that sticky tires and high rpm launches that the stock 10 bolt will destruct. What I am refering to is just the daily uses and spirited driving on the street. Some track use as well but nothing with sticky tires or hpm launches.
They should be fine right?

I drive mine very hard on the street and that's daily driving on e/t streets which are gonna hook harder than any street tire. I'm running AAM/Motive/Gm Gears (They are the same thing just so you didn't think there were 3 different brands). I set mine up a little tighter because I don't do any autocross and do drag race every other month. I have over 50 passes and 10,000 miles on this set and the survived the posi blowup that just occured. Like you said anything can and will break in these rears. IMO I would have them set up at exactly .006 backlash so they will be farely tight and probably give you the best life span.

Well I am looking at buying a rear with 4.10's all ready in them. They are supposed to have around 39k miles on them and make no noises at all. The miles are high but before I buy the rear I do plan on checking out the gears and taking a peak at them. But it seems like you hear more about all the bad rather than the good on here when it comes to alot of things so I am not to worried but just wanted to clarify my understandings of it.
So thank you very much bud

Are you buying a 10 bolt with the 4.10s in it? I loved my 4.10s before i blew it up. Would be shifting into 5th gear in my friggin neigborhood. I actually like the constant shifting though I dont think they will break that fast as long as you dont dump the clutch more than...pretty much off idle. lol. I blew mine to all hell from dumping the clutch at 4000 rpms after doing a John Force style burnout. Stupid move!

I might just throw 4.10s into my 10 botl to see what they are like. If i decide they are enough for me then i'll have a 9 inch of 12 bolt built with them, if not then i'll up it to 4.30s.
