TA cover

I heard you can buy a TA Rear End Support Cover and it will help the rear end to last longer from breaking. Is this true? What are some other things I can do besides throw down over 2 grand on a moser 12 bolt?

I just bought one and yes it does help i know of a couple people who are in the 10's with there 10-bolts becasuse of this cover... Its a good investment since your running a stall

Another "simple" mod that is done is switching out the crush collar for a solid pinion spacer. You would have to remove the carrier and pinion, but if you keep the shims in correct areas, and facing the same way.....then you might be alright (personally I would measure backlash and look at the gear pattern just for assurance). That way you have the carrier and pinion bearings covered as far as extra support goes.
