Am I Asking for Troubles ????? My 2000 C5 is in for upgrades as I type, after Heads, Cam, Headers, Intake, New 2800 Converter, and 3:42 Diff. Etc.I am anticipating around 400 -420 rear wheel H.P. and torque numbers in the same range, car will be set up to shift around 6400 rpm, I am having a B&M shift kit and trans cooler installed also as part of the upgrades. For the most part the car will be a daily driver. As far as abuse to the trans it will be primarily street racing on weekends and I might go to the track a few times a year. Car currently has 18K miles of mostly easy highway driving.
I have been told by the shop doing the mods that the stock trans is capable of handling the power and abuse I am planning. Is it realistic to expect that with the numbers I am posting above the trans will hold up without further upgrades. I know sooner of later I will need to do a rebuild but A few years out of the stock unit would be nice.

Re: Am I Asking for Troubles ????? Some people have luck with stock trannies, but most dont. You are doing right by putting a tranny cooler on the car. In fact you should put the largest one possible on it. Think of it as insurance.
I cant answer your question about th elife of your tranny though. It seems to be on an individual basis that they last or dont. I can suggest not making repeated passes with it on the street, as I think this hurts more than anything.
