Apples and oranges, man. The M6 has two overdrive gears, the highest being a .50 ratio. The A4 has what, a .70 ratio in OD? of course the RPMs are gonna be higher. Sorry, figured you caught the OP stating it was a six speed.

M6, You will have the same mileage... get the 4.10's, you will love them!! When daily driving, i was averaging around 16-18 driving the car hard and 18-20 taking it easy... personally i think thats damn good.

I was able to do around 100Mph @ under 3K rpms...So 75mph is under 2k... not bad at all.

Trust me you will kick yourself if you get the 3.73. I would only tell someone to get 3.73's over 4.10's if they were auto.

Or pushing 500+ HP and insists on running a 26" tire in the 1/4 mile (might run out of gear, depending on rev limit)

But I agree. 4.10s are perfect. 3.73 is hardly enough of a jump from 3.42 to warrant the expense.

3.42 to 3.73 is a waste of money. There is no considerable notice in performance. You will feel like someone just stole your wallet on payday. Go with the 4.10 ratio with a 6 speed.

Everybody said 4.10s and the guy still said he was going to do 3.73s.

How is 6th gear almost unusable with 3.42's? When I had 3.42's I used 6th as low as 45mph. And gas mileage stays about the same for city, but definitely drops for highway.

I have 3.73's and I definitely felt a difference. It woke the car up a lot! I think it's a great "all around" gear for the street, especially a daily driver. Plus 3.73's are stronger. Mine isn't a DD, so I'm thinking about going to 4.10's. Whichever gear the OP chooses, he'll benefit. One gear is not better than the other in every situation; it's all about what you're going to use the car for and personal preference.

I guess sixth gears usability with stock 3.42s is pretty subjective. I didnt like lugging the motor at anything under 70 mph, and rarely even above that. It gets way worse if you have a cam (although the OP does not). Perhaps I should have added the ubiquitous "IMO" to my post, however it seems the majority of M6 drivers have agreed with me on the 4.10's. But as you say, to each his own.

I have 241s or something like that, I just finished a stick swap and just want some decent gears, I was thinking of 410s, but I would be breaking the rear end, and I cant have that, I got the stock 10 bolt, Plus I have been talking to a shop that just specializes in trans am and cameros, They say I will definitely need another rear end, and they said with 410s the rpms would be at about 2400-2600rpms @75mph, so I just went with some yukon 373s
