Default Trac Cont issues with gear change?

I blew out the rear end in my car (stock 10 bolt) and for temporary use, just to get my car rolling, I'm buying a used stock 10 bolt. I have an A4 that has 3.23s and traction control. The rear end I'm buying is also a 4-channel, but has 3.42s. I had someone tell me that if I didn't put a 3.23 rear end back in, that I would loose my traction control. Is this true?

I don't believe that is true. My M6 has traction control and I didn't lose it going to 4.10's. The only way you would lose T/C is if the rear you bought doesn't have it.

That's what I was thinking but I wanted to double check that. I couldn't see how a different gear ratio would throw off the TC. I could understand my speedo being off, but that's not a huge deal.

I believe what he is talking about is by changing the gear ratio this will affect the computer and revolutions that the computer is prgrammed for. If you have an aftermarket programmer you can simply tell the computer the new ratio and you will be fine.
