Default Narrow rear?

If I were to buy some drag wheels, say 15x10 with 6.5" backspacing, and I am about to order a new rear, could I not just have it shortened 1/2" to 1" on each side..?

Also, I assume it would negatively affect my factory wheels, but I could just then run a 1/2" or 1" spacer with the factory wheels...

Correct me if Im wrong.

Has anyone done this, would you do this?

Yes, many people have done this setup. You just need to make sure the backspacing is not offset too far where your wheel will rub the inside of the fender or shocks.

Ah, good call. Never thought of that aspect.

But lets say theoretically, if the proper wheel is 7.5`` backspacing and wouldnt rub. Then shouldnt the 6.5`` backspacing with a 1`` narrowed rear on each side, be fine

yes but when you run the stock wheels it will be one inch closer to the inner fender. i would not recommend running a one inch spacer but i know some people do it. i have mine narrowed 2 inches and love the deep dish look on my new race rims.

You could run a 1" Wheel Adapter safely though.

Are you refering to something different from a 1" spacer? Or is it the same thing.

Since you are thinking about getting wheels with a 6.5" backspacing, narrowing the rear one inch per side will allow the tires to stay in the same location they are now. This is exactly what I did for my Moser M9, shown here. Bob
