Default Help me pick Rear end

Need help picking the right rear end for my turbo T/A. Here is the low down. Forged 347, ST80 turbo, M6. What rear? I want thinking a 9" or a S60. This is a street car and will see some track use but not much. 800whp. Please give me the options for the rear end too. True track, Locker etc. Thanks!!e

Just finished installing a moser 9" on my SS with APS set up. This is also on a street car that sees some occasional track use.

how much power are you puting down? I was told that the true track would not hold my power level and to get a Detroit locker, but they are not street friendly. I am leaning twards the 9, but what internals

Go 9'' and 3.50's for a M6 or even 3.25's if you want. I am going 3.00 or 3.25's for my auto. With an auto its a lil less hard on the rear and the trutrac has proven to stand up to allot, even at the track. I am talking 1000fwhp and 1.4 60 ft's. I am going with a trutrac myself b/c I don't want it chewing up tires, my abs light on, the constant drag around corners, etc. If you are worried get the spool and not the locker in my opinion. I was in this debate hevily, jsut go to the rear section and do a search. Ton's of info and even some fairly recent one's that you'll see that I was in ***** deep.

You're in a crossroad where the Truetrac should hold it, but on a sticky track and if you start cutting 1.30 60 ft times, you could possibly break it. On the street I wouldn't see any problems with it at all. If it were me I would go with a spool. Spools work quite well for weekend driven cars, and commuting if on rural roads and highways where you don't spend a lot of time turning tight corners. A spool is also lighter, has less reciprocating weight and cost less.

Moser with a spool.

Moser with a Truetrac

Moser rears are shipped just two days after the order is received! Bob

thanks for the feedback! I am going with a 9" from Midwest chassis, just undecided if I want a locker, true track, or spool. Locker sound pretty harsh

the 9 inch is almost bullet proof and it takes less power to drive plus you can change gears much easier but it is just a matter of opinion im not saying that the s60 is a bad rear its just as good as the 9 inch

not true. takes the most power to spin but we are only talking an extra 2 to 3 % not much.

And isn't the s60 a lot heavier than a 9 inch?
