Default Do Auburns and Torsens Interchange?

I picked up a 98 T/A with a 3 series rear...It is a GU5 rear with 3.23's. I believe it has an auburn that is slipping in it...My question is if i pick up a nice low mileage torsen from another 3 series will that bolt right in, in place of the wasted auburn? Will i need any additional parts? I was going to pick up a hp series auburn but they are over 400.00 and i can get a low mileage torsen for 100.00.

Yep, housing is the same. If you're just replacing the carrier, you "hopefully" shouldn't have to do anything to the pinion gear, and when you're installing the new carrier, all you'll have to adjust is the backlash (if you're lucky, the original shims will position the carrier right where it needs to be, but there's a chance that the manufacturing tolerance could be off a little).

Well im having a 373 gear set and bearing kit thrown in it at the same time so setting it up isnt a big deal...I just wanted to make sure the torsen would work. Will i need any small parts ie; c clips, cross pins etc etc?

I would think that the cross pin is the same one between both diffs ... could be different, but I doubt it?! C-clips are the same. You shouldn't need anything else. Out with the old, in with the new .
