Slave Cylinder

Slave Cylinder Scoggins D. quoted me prices on slave cylinders today. They made note that the 97-99 and the 2000-2002 were different. Of course the one I want (the 99) is more expensive (around 118.00 I think). What's the difference? Can I use the 2000 in my 99?

Re: Slave Cylinder Ummmm I'm not sure who you talked to but they aren't quite giving you 100% accurate information. First off let me ask you why do you want a 99 slave? Most guys with 98-00 cars UPgrade to the 01/02 slave cylinder. The 02 has significant improvements that cure problems experienced with the earlier versions. As far as I know any 98-02 f-body can use the 02 slave. Here are the part numbers for reference:

As for price, you can go to www.gmpartsdirect.com and get one shipped to your door for around $80 or go to one of the vendors on this site(thunder and/or tbyrne should have them) and get them for around a $100(and support the site while you're at it). Either way you'll get a better slave cylinder at a cheaper price than what that guy is selling you.

All my comunication with Scoggins D. (a sponser by the way) was by email and was a basic price quote. I had thought that the 02 would fit and just wanted to ask on the board because the lag time from question to answer via email is kinda slow sometimes.
The reason for replacement. The Engine transmission I have are a pullout from an auction. When they removed it they didnt remove the hydro line and damaged the cylinder. It works, but leaks.
