Default Should I risk the 10bolt?

Ok here's the deal. I just got my car finally running after nearly a year. Here are the specs real quick.

LS2 402, outta box GM L92s, L76, 90mm TB, big *** cam. The transmission is a fully built full manual 4L80e. The rear end is a GM 10-bolt that is brand new and was replaced about 10-15k miles ago. I realize I should have just bought a 12 bolt but I had not intended on taking the modification of the car this far.

So, should I risk taking it the track this weekend with a set of slicks and running it two or three times to see what it will run? Or would that most likely be pushing my luck? I know that there is no sure way of knowing when it will break but I would like to know what my odds are.

My buddy shaved several teeth on his gear set. Stock 346cid, some bolt-ons, drag radials, and a 2K rpm launch. Guys have broken their 10-bolts with Stock power on drag radials. Some guys run 10's on their rear. It might be a good idea to tow it there. Then who cares, launch away

Odds 402+slicks=prolly not too good

Well ****. That is not what I was hoping for...I pretty much knew the response. I could kick my own *** for putting a GM 10 bolt on the credit card, making it as much as 12 bolt..

I would tow it there, but, I just put some of my transmission on the credit card. That means I can't afford a 12 bolt just yet.

I have some pretty shitty street tires that seemed to hook just a wee bit, I may give those a shot.

What about some almost bald nitto DRs? Et streets? Those are probably outta the question too huh?

With an automatic you do stand a better chance of keeping the 10 bolt alive. Nitto's may work, as they don't provide a whole lot of bite. Bob
