Default PLEASE HELP!!! 9in problems

I'm putting my new moser 9in in my 98 z28 6 speed car and I bolted the lower control arms up and they bolted up fine but then I went to bolt up the torque arm and the holes didn't want to line up so I took the lower control arms back off and bolted up the torque arm BUT now the lower control arms WILL NOT line up with the holes in the rear end. Do I have to have adjustable lower control arms for this to fit or is there a certain way to get everything lined up? PLEASE HELP me out. Thanks in advance.

Is your torque arm binding against the floor board tunnel? This could be keeping you from being able to get the rear where you need it. It is a good idea to have adjustable torque arm, lower control arms and adjustable panhard bar to get everything set up perfectly.

No I don't think it's binding against the tunnel. Is there a certain order I should bolts things back up like the torque arm first then the conrol arms then shocks then the panhard bar?

I had that problem. Keep the LCAs bolted up. I had to get a C-clamp and compress the stock torque arm to the mounting bracket on the 9-inch to line the holes up the best I could. It took a bit of messing with it but eventually got it. My BMR ATA bolted right up

yea! I got it lol Went back out and looked at it and the torque arm was binding messed with a little and got it bolted up. Thank you all very much. I have another question though I bought a used center section and it came with a 1350 yolk but it didn't come with the u bolts. Does anyone know what size u bolts I need to buy and can I get it at the local parts store? I already bought the conversion u-joint 1310-1350.

It's too late, but you usually need to tip the top forward. If you can't do it by hand putting a jack under the pan hard bar mount works.

Ditto to above. I use a small little hand jack and put a piece of pipe right on the panhard rod where it connects to the rearend. Jack it up a little bit and the T/A slides on like butter.

Thanks I will definately try that next time. I got it in and took it for a drive and when I get on it very hard it sounds like the rear end is hitting the bottom of the car or something. Is that normal? Is there something I can do to fix it ?

With the rear (loaded) supported by the tires, usually you will notice the torque arm mount being against the sheetmetal. All you have to do is to take a pry bar and gently nudge the sheetmetal away from where it is against either the torque arm bracket or the torque arm. It only needs about an .125 gap. Bob

Ok thanks, I will get back under it and do some pryin. I got on it tonight and it wheel hops really bad guess I need to buy a t/a. I have bilstein shocks, lower control arms, and a panhard bar should a new torque arm take care of the wheel hop?

I'd check to see what your pinion angle is at. We set up the adjustable torque arms at a -2 to begin with. If your stock torque arm is way off from this then an aftermarket torque arm may help out quite a bit. The BMR Trak Pak is what I recommend, shown here.
