axle play

car is a 95 z with 100,000 mi and was getting off the highway and it started to make clunk sounds from the rear. got home jack it up and spin the tires and every things fine execpt there seems to be alot of play in my passenger side axle. i can pull on the whell and it will move a little less than 1/8 in. drivers side doesnt move. so did i loose a c-clip or something or is some play exectable.

c-clip is in place. replaced outer bearing too but the play is still there. axle loked good no grooves or anything but still think it souldnt move. any help appreciated.

when does it make the clunking? mine just started clunking in the rear whenever i hit the brakes or hit a bump..i cant find anything thats actually loose so i have no idea..
