Speedo tuning
Speedo tuning This thursday i am having my rear rebuilt with some 3.73's put in it. My question is, that beings it will throw off the speedo how do i have it tuned back to the right settings. This is going from a 3.23 to a 3.73. The guy at the shop told me i would have to get a chip of some sort or a new software through them to do it. Or would have to have a GM dealer do it with the stock computer. I wouldnt mind getting the chip but just dont have the extra 300 bucks to throw in it. That and i dont want it to be putting more miles on it than i actually am. Any idea's? or how did everyone else have it done? Thanks

if you plan on doing more mods to your car just buy HPTuners or something and learn to tune. Other than that any shop with tuning software should be able to do it for you, have no idea of the cost. I had my trans replaced and tuned, took it back several times since the car would not shift at WOT, bought HPTuners and the car runs better than ever. try running a search, this topic been discussed, hell I rarely post cuz everything has been discussed.
where did you buy your HPtuner at? I have read up on tuners just never really in depth, and now i realize that it would be worth it. I guess you learn something new every day... any recomendations on brands and where to buy them?
hptuners is hptuners. you can buy direct from them. some of the sponsors sell it as well. it's the same wherever you buy it so find who is the cheapest. there are 2 versions. get the pro. it costs more. they also have a forum that is very useful.

Got mine from the HPTuner site, the pro version. Never hurts to plan ahead. Not difficult to use at all. Had my car tuned locally and had trouble with the car shifting and other issues, figured I could do no worse. I am very happy with it plus I can mod at will and not have to worry about getting it tuned after. I really didn't like buying something I couldnt hold/see and just taking the benefits on faith. Anyways, been using it a few months and could not be happier.
