Stock 2001 ss conv. My car is stock with only the free mods and lid and filter. It doesn't see any track racing because it's not available close enough my question would you increase the stall if you were running stock tires if so how big if no what would you do for a performance boost for 1000 dollars thanks
Re: Stock 2001 ss conv. With stock tires, I'd give up some STR and accept a little more looseness in order to make it easy to launch. Without a doubt my favorite pure street converter is the SY 3500. Very Low STR makes it easy to launch hard on the street. Good shift extension and high efficency make it killer from a roll too. Only drawback is it is a pricey converter.
For a less expensive converter, I would call Derek at TCS and have him build you a 3300 - 3500 stall with a 2.0 STR. A 3300 with a 2.0 should have good drivability and you can learn to launch it with practice.
