Sevicing Tranny - DIY?
Sevicing Tranny - DIY? Does anyone service their transmissions personally? My car has 46752 mi on it and since I am installing a tranny cooler today i figure i may as well do the whole thing. Im not sure if the dealership i purchased it from has done so. (bought the car used w/ 38000 mi). Which would be WAY past due since it is supposed to be done every 15k. I know autozone has the filter and the fluids, but i dont cant find the gasket for the pan on their website or on Napa/Charleston Auto Parts. What is the part number for this piece? Anyone know where i should be able to pick one up?
Re: Sevicing Tranny - DIY? Wix has a filter change kit that u can get that has everything u need to change the filter except the fluid. i got mine from Oreily, and is still workin fine after 3k miles. <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />
Re: Sevicing Tranny - DIY? i did my tranny a few thousand miles ago, go ahead and get the genuine gasket from gm, unless u get a quality aftermarket the one that autozone carried was crap. didn't seal right, had the car up on the jacks this past weekend and saw i have to re-do my transmission this weekened AGAIN. go ahead and get the real deal, the service is easy just ease the bottom pan off a corner at a time, the worst part is the oil...the rest is easy. good luck man! lemme know how the tranny cooler turns out.
