Default Which would you do?

... and I have a feeling I know how people are gonna answer this..

I fried my diff this morning... I'm only getting power to one wheel right now, and it makes some really horrid noises if I try to do a burnout. So at the very least, I have to get a new diff.

Also... I have been intending to upgrade the gears..

I've tried to find a used good 3.42 non-TCS 10-bolt locally, but have come up empty handed after a month of looking.

So at this point if I wanna race again between now and next spring, I have to do one of two things..

Fix the 10-bolt.. and my thought is that if I'm changing a diff I'm gonna do gears at the same time.

Or... crash the bucks and get a 12-bolt.

Which would you do?

12-bolt.
If you dont need it now, your gona need it later. Plus its the fun factor of not having to worry about the rear.

DrEvyl,
Personally I'd go 12-bolt, but in an A4 you should be okay for a while with the 10.

BTW, I have a used 10-bolt for sale if you're interested. Its got about 12,500 miles on it, 3.42 non-Auburn, non-TCS, complete with backing plates, ABS sensor, etc. Not painted so its rusty - been out of the car and on a pallet for about 2 months. PM me if you're interested.

DrEvyl,
Have a stick car, so I'm not going to wait till I lunch my 10 bolt, so I'm installing a 12 bolt on Tuesday. I have a 10-bolt out of my 2002 Z28. It has 7,100 miles on it, a 3:42 Zexel Torsion, non TCS and has The TA girdle with the stud kit 3 channel ABS sensor PM me if you're interested. I will even throw a set of BMR LCA bolt-on relocation brackets, as you can't use them with a Moser 12 bolt.

thanks,
Paul

Where are you located? The first guy there is about 30 miles from me, so it's pretty easy.
