poly tranny mount cause false KR? I recently purchased Prothane torque & tranny mounts from Thunder. The salesman (Chris?) convinced me that it wouldn't have the same problem as the ES tranny mount.
I was hoping some poly tranny mount would actually work out of the box. I already tried the ES mount and took it back off and threw it away.
So it's a universal-type tranny mount which comes with studs, washers, nuts, etc. No preload bumps, no separate bar. The bar is mated with the poly, and partially curves down around the side and into the bushing. No cutting it off without cutting through the metal on both sides.
Definitely getting bad vibration, and the car seems more sluggish in daily driving since the install. Haven't autotapped anything, but I'm doing a full dyno-tune on Saturday. I'm concerned that that the vibration might cause tuning difficulty.
Can I put washers between the chassis & crossmember to remove the vibration? What about drivetrain geometry? Should I just put the phricking stock mount back in until after the tune? I'm so pissed that I have the same problem with both ES & Prothane.
I'd like to try poly engine mounts, if it weren't such a b!tch to replace if I was unhappy with the results.

The engine idles smoother now (doesn't shake nearly as much as before) and the Y-pipe banging is virtually non-existent now (and that is with minimal clearance with my RT cats). I posted up a thread with some specifics a couple of weeks ago on the removal/installation of the driver side if it helps. Re: poly tranny mount cause false KR? what i did was take and cut a close to fit peice of a old tire poke holes in ti so the bolts to go through and put it between the mount and trans be sure its thin for bolt may seem a little short be sure to get plenty of the bolt into the trans then tighten down <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
Re: poly tranny mount cause false KR? I just did the same thing.Installed the Prothane tranny mount,drove it for 40 miles then ripped it out!!!! I hated the vibration transmitted through it!!Mine is also amplified from a torque arm with a Helm joint on the front too.
I have the enegy susp. i my car feels like an second gen camaro.The vibration is so bad i hate it.I going to tried some of your ideas to see how it works.
Any of you use both protane motor mounts?Why to use just one?It not cause the same vibration with one or both?
