Default How come no one is using....

How come no one is using the GM 8.5 10 bolts in our cars? I think back to my 77 and 79 Camaros and the abuse those 10 bolts took without breaking. They all had an Auburn carrier and Richmond 3.90 gears and I logged numerous track passes without breakage or a whine. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Hell I even put my shock through my rusted out shock towers on my 77 when I launched it on slicks and the rear held it's own. Not to mention I imagine they would be dirt cheap giving the number of vehicles they came in. Would going to a Ford 8.8 really be that much better??? I mean we are talking about .3 of an inch here. I even think some of the S10's like the ZR2 comes with the 8.5 10 bolt so that should make the swap all the much easier.

I have seen 10 bolts live behind lots of power....My guess is, it costs roughly the same amount to prep and change a 10 bolt as a 12 bolt....may as well do the stronger one....Just my thoughts....
