Default ok ready for mods....

ok, I'm sure this has been covered sometime in the forum history, so I apologize of I am repeating something but just trying to make a decision here... I just went with a custom loudmouth-like setup (built it myself, and thats really the only mod besides a K&N) - so I want to do something "effective" to really boost my 0-100 times, it seems very high geared and like it pulls a lot to go through the gears....

I live in ricer-land, nevada, there are hardly any f-bodys and a ton of mustangs, and 80,000 different ricers each day... so I want to be sure I'm up to par here with stomping them, especially since I made a statement with my license plate against ricers!!!!

I am wanting to go to 4.10's... (I have an M6) - if I drive intelligently, and not dumping the clutch and all, will it live as a daily driver? or am I gonna be breaking it?

thanks for any tips!!!!!!

ok, I just didnt know that if it put more power to the tires quicker or something, I'm just trying to be thorough before I go and do something dumb with my daily driver....

I am under the impression that that kind of gear change will make a huge acceleration difference.... I used to have a mustang gt, that I switched from 2.73's to 3.73's and it was like a whole different car... I figured 4.10's in an LS1 should be any mustang's worst nightmare!?!?!

According to my redneck math, that should be a 16 1/2 percent increase of torque in each gear, with a subsequent 16 1/2 percent reduction in speed.

Gear speeds should be as follows on stock diameter tires:
1st: 38
2nd: 59
3rd: 83.5

I used that based on 6k rpm, on my 99.... I don't remember the exact speed 4th runs out.... But stock my car was 45,70, and 100 ......... with 3.42's.

It should be fun, but you'll be shifting more, and when you shift more you tend to shift faster trying to make up for it........

I think I've finally crossed over to the dark side, I'm looking for a 12 bolt or a 9 inch myself.

With the 1100 plus install for a totally upgraded rear, you can find a decent 12 bolt or 9 inch for close to that plus shipping....

Just letting ya know.

cool cool, I think it'll be great... I don't mind a loss in top end for the extra acceleration, I think the "seat of the pants" feel will probably be worth it... and correct me if I am wrong, but from like a 25mph roll, it should still take off real quick with the lower gears? yes? (compared to stock)
