Default 4 Pack Gauge Cluster

I heard that to install these into a 1ss that it isn't "plug n' play." From my understanding they need to be activated by a gm service tech/computer. My question is do they have to flash the computer and if so will i lose all tuning info? Cause if thats the case i might just have to say no to gauges.

100% plug and play. You were misinformed.

You do, however, need to get the correct gauge pack. There are four - V8 Auto, V8 Manual, V6 Auto, V6 manual and they will only work accordingly.
