5th gen questions?
Well I'm a potential 5th gen owner. I'm thinking of trading in my cobalt for a new LS3 car. I don't know much about them other than what I've read around the clock the last two days. I just thought I'd come out and ask. Do they have some of the short comings of the 4th gens such as a weak rear, and sucky clutch hydraulics. Do they handle better than the 4th gens? Are the clutches up to par. The most it'll see for a long time would probably be bolt ons. thanks

They are a total different rear end now it is an IRS, you wont have any troubles with any kind of bolt ons with the rear nor the clutch, I feel that the stock clutch is capable of pretty decent power nothing you'll exceed with bolt ons.
I know some early 2010 model 6 speeds had input shaft issues but that's all good under warranty.
Some minor issues occasionally with the hydraulic slave leaking too but yet again nothing warranty won't handle even with some bolt ons.

clutch is ok positioned a little high. less forgiving than a lot of other vehicles. they had very small issues with the clutch/trannies in the early VIN's but they've straightened that out. they handle better than the 4th gens
