Out with the old in with the new. Hey folks,
I'm looking to get a new Camaro. Plan is to get a 2010. (Don't wanna get an 11 just for the HUD). The real conundrum is A6 or M6. I have done quit a bit of research, my only questions left are: Does saying "L99" ever stop sounding dumb? If I were to get an A6, is it possible to clone the LS3 (Cam/Lifters , disable AFM)? I am sorry if these questions can be easily found. I have found the answer to all my others, pretty much all I have left unanswered.

You could but im not sure if the car will function the same. If I were you instead of cloning the L99 to a LS3 I would just go bigger with full bolts on, bigger spec'd cam and soo on. But the LS3 is a better engine if you ask me. I would just get a M6

There are kits to convert the L99 over to an LS3. The major difference is the cam for the AFM and cam phaser on the L99 is much smaller than the LS3 cam. Guys are swapping over to the LS3 parts and adding an LS9 cam and gaining 60hp.

Thanks for the input guys. Mostly I'm going with the A6 due to where/when I'll be driving it. I am in that group that wishes I had a manual ~10% of the time. I'm going from an 86 IRoc with a 383/TH350 sitting at 525hp/480ft.lb. flywheel. I'm thinking an A6 with bolt ons to start. Couple years down the road I just want to be able to put more money into it and not regret what I have. After some more looking I think they both have mostly the same potential; really just is a matter of opionion and M v A.
