Default 2012 LS3 - Looking for advice

OK folks, I am on my 3rd summer driving my 2SS/RS. I have been lurking in the other C5 website for a couple years, and this one for a few months. I love my ride, drive it with the nannies off (traction control pressed for ~9 seconds), and have had no driveline related issues other than occasional mild "clunking" when I depress the clutch at slow speeds. My dealer gave me a technical bulletin two years ago that diagnosed the noise as "lash". The frequency/volume of the clunking hasn't changed at all, so I accept the noise as an annoyance but not a risk.

I won't track the car, it's a DD and that's all. The only mod I have is a rotofab intake. I'm interested in adding power, but limiting it to NA. I'm reviewing the "For sale by owner" threads for an exhaust (LT, HF Cats, exhaust), and once that transaction takes place, I'm interested in camming the car.

I want to take the car off the road for a couple weekends to install the exhaust, and cam.

Here's where the advice comes in - I'm willing to install the cam (with competent help) - I'm looking for a reputable vendor with a proven, driveable, cam and upgrade kit, if that's necessary for reliability, that wont require additional maintenance or parts replacement in the future. I haven't determined the path for tuning (New Era Performance is a couple hours away) - I'm toying with the idea of a remote tune.

Am I thinking about this right?

My 2 bits worth.

LT's would be the next logical step and your on your way there. Whether or not you shop or remote tune, you'll need one with the CAI and LT's. With regard to the cam, consider your end result N/A build select the cam accordingly. There are several good vendor choices out there. If New Era is only 2 hours away I'd suggest starting there.

You should be able to get the best results for your setup if you talk to the shop you are having tune the car. If you think you will be using New Era, call and talk to them. They should have several different cam profiles that they use on a regular basis (NA, FI, Turbo) and can guide you to the correct supporting parts. If you have any reservations after talking with them, look elsewhere.

the clunking is you. your letting the clutch out too fast or pushing it in to fast. Mine does it too. Talk to Mike at New Era. Dont fall for the internet hype. He will tell you straight up what's what. I wish I hadnt fallen for the internet hype. I would have used Mikes cam then I wouldnt be chucking the junk popular cam I bought. Buy local with internal parts. Have them check the bearing journals size and lobes before putting the cam in. I would also ask him if he can get you a Cam Motion cam. Thats what im doing in the spring. Where are you on NY. Do the dyno tune and Mike is one of the best.
