LS3 Build?
If someone were to build an LS3 and replaced all of the internals, what parts would they use? Has anyone blueprinted an LS3 build? Crank, pistons, rods, cam, lifters, etc...I'd like to just have the stock heads ported and polished, but I'm looking for ideas and trying to figure out what it would cost and what kind of HP I could get N/A and still be reliable.
I would put in forged pistons and a callies crankshaft with a 4 inch stroke. That would make it I believe a 416 ci stroker. With ported stock heads and a nice streetable cam you would be looking at over 500 rwhp and close to 500 ft lbs of tq.
Mine is forged pistons/rods, stock crank, ported LSA heads. You will need a .01 hone, and 4.07 bore pistons: http://www.wiseco.com/Catalogs/Automotive/Chevrolet.pdf just choose what compression you want with the corresponding piston. I went with Eagle rods. Katech came out with a cam that makes 530whp with ported LS3 heads and exhaust, stock intake.
I have built many forged LS3 engines but they were all for blown applications. LS3 engines make ridiculous power with stock rotating assemblies so I wouldnt bother cracking the engine open unless youre either a) planning on adding forced induction b) changing the crankshaft and increasing the displacement.
