remains to be seen, magazines say the challenger will cost $28k but hell a V8 charger costs that, and like how the GT500 was going to be "mid-30s" when it first was announced is NOW up to $45k(which I would be willing to bet will be closer to $50k once it finally hits the market), you can expect to pay in the neighborhood of $40k for the Challenger, besides from what I hear, GM is wanting to go back to its roots and offer the Z28 as the "top" model with the SS being the middle V8, I'd be all for a LS2 powered SS and a higher output V8(in the neighbor of 450) in the Z28...

I'd still buy the lower V8 model because of the pocket book factor, but it'd still be nice to know the option was there for a higher hp model...

You don't beat the solid axle in the 1320...

If this car is to suceed it had BETTER be in the price range of a GT mustang, I'm sorry but people are not going to pay $35k for a coupe V8 sports car that doesn't have "vette" or "cobra" in its name, it will fall into the GTOs fate...

Those who want it can't afford it, those who can afford it don't want it...
You've got a point, but to keep the car alive and compete with the sales of the Mustang the IRS will appeal more to the average car buyer. IRS will be a good selling point for the base line models and people who just want the looks of the camaro and dont care about the performance will have a lot smoother ride. Like I said before if GM were smart they would make an option for a live axle or IRS in the higher end models. And if this doesn't happen how many of you are willing to bet there will be an aftermarket company making a kit to swap the IRS for live axle? I am! I know us drivers that like to actually turn the wheel of a car will enjoy the IRS!

IRS might be nice if it could help the car get some C5-like handeling. but all i can say for sure is that unless this car sheds some major pounds and LS2 won't be enough. they are going to have produce something that will go head to head with a GT500 (470 hp) and the 6.2 hemi (425 hp). 400 hp just won't be enough. hopefully the LS2 will just be their mid level engine package otherwise it will loose my vote. GM will need more than a "runner up" to get sales up

When was the z28 ever the top option above the SS (when the SS was available)? The 1st gen z28 never came with a 396, as the SS could be optioned so. The z28 was a road racer while the SS was the drag car.

To everyone here. No offense to anyone, but the TA is officially gone as of the last one made. They are going to end production on the GTO as well as i'm sure most of you are aware, However, they will be coming back out with a new, more GTO-esque car a year or 3 later. But i don't know why everyone is questioning the price of the new camaro being reasonable considering all the lines of REAR WHEEL DRIVE vehicles that general motors is coming out with, including the Impalas, Monte Carlo's, Bonnevils, along with 2 buick lines, INCLUDING the camaro and the next gen GTO all on the same "zeta" assembly line. the same line which just about 2 years ago they claimed they were going to "end" before it even began. All of these vehicles being built on one line will reduce the cost of all of them, along with allowing far more options for each vehicle being produced. Cost effective? Very! Priced right, it deffinatly will be. a hit, i promise. And for anyone who SWEARS that a TA is a completely different pony than the camaro... take the shoulder pads off the front fenders and chop the tail off and guess what... they're the same vehicle, it all comes down to what you like the best. After all... They're both GM cars... so be happy neither of them have a "blue smudge" on the grill.

4000 pounds? 425 HP and only a 13.0 q/m? (unless things have changed from when I first read about that car) No Thanks.

From what I'm told camaros are supposed to be ready late 08'-early 09'. At least thats what the newsletter GM sent out two weeks ago said but dont believe me I'm just a salesmen for chevy. Wouldnt be the first time they changed stuff on us.
