2009 Camaro #1
As for the GTO, I don't think so much that it needed to be retro, we're getting enough of that. However I think it could have been more masculine, not just a more rounded Grand Prix.
On the Charger, personally, I'd love one, I think they look great.
there is still at least two more years before the camaro is in production and im sure gm has learned its lesson from selling boring/ordinary cars and is gonna step upto the plate when it comes to styling on this car. its gonna have to look incredible since it will be released after the challenger hits showrooms so its gonna need something to steal its fire.
i read recently that the two car companies that are investing the most in car styling are the two most boreing car companies and thats GM and Toyota and im betting that that will reflect on the new camaro.
This is how Dodge made the Charger,
Magnum + 300C + Hemi = Charger
This is how Pontiac made the GTO
Grand AM + Grand Prix + LS1 = GTO
simple formulas
Mustang just kicked GM and Dodge's *** in the muscle car wars so GM and Dodge gave little thought process in what the cars should look like and named some of their present models with a twist. Not hard to identify the 300C "look" in the Charger, same with Grand Prix.......I mean GTO. Camaro will be on a whole new level. Only my opinion, sorry if I offended any Charger/GTO owners.
As far as the challenger, it will be heavy and slow, that seems to be dodges mantra when it comes to cars. They will probably put a hemi in, hell it might even be the 6.1L, but the concept was supposedly made of carbon fiber. I bet it will come out at a curb weight of around 3800-4000 like the cobra, but have a big powerful engine. The camaro I hope stays in th 3600 ish range like the GTO. I would rather have a lighter car than a more powerful motor.

only at its first release and now towards the end of its cycle (because sales are so low)are they trying to advertise them as they should have and its still pathetic.
another thing is im pretty sure the GTO wasnt intended to be a muscle car but more of a GT car more euro and refined than a muscle car but giving it the GTO name gave the muscle car image that it was not supposed to be.
even though its more expensive (& heavy) its still a higher quality car and better driver than the fbody and previous generation mustang ever where and i dont own a GTO but two fbodies.
By the time this car comes out, All GM cars will be hybrids. 2009????? are you kidding me. The pony car race will be over. If they wanted to make this right, then they should have done like they did the Solstice and get it to production.
As a 2002 TA owner, 06 GTO and 06 GP GXP owner, Gm missed the boat. The GTO, gets it done better than any car GM has ever released. It was built to compete with BMW and does it at an incredible price.
The new camaro looks like nothing more than a Chrysler 300M from the Side with the high profile door and low roof line, and the front of the car is a stolen right from the lower grill of the 06 Corvette. The only original part of the new camaro is the rear end and they cut off the tail lights. Its just an opinion, but as someone who has never owned anything but GM cars, this one is not getting it done.
