Default Weakest Link

No doubt HP/TQ will not be an issues with the new camaro...a simple cam swap with net massive gains, def a good time to be a performance guy...my issue is: 4th gens it was the rear end that went first...so on the new car what will be the weak link once we start making all this power with aftermarket parts...I doubt the tranny (M6) goes first, I'm looking hard at that IRS/differential going first, what is the concensus on the board?

I dont think anyone on this board will have a solid foundation of what the new camaro will encounter. We will just have to wait and see.

I don't think we'll know for sure until people start taking them to the strip.

The GM IRS units have held up to some serious power. The only one that had any problems was the CTS rearends.

The C6 vettes center unit has held up to 1000hp before blowing up.

since this vehicle is based on holden architecture, wouldn't you figure it would be most similar to G8's in terms of drive train...thavint said that, how have their rear diff's held up to 450+rwhp?

We'll see when the first person hits a 150 shot off the line with sticky tires with the 5th gen to see if it holds

I am going to guess the first thing to go when anyone does anything to a new Camaro with anything other than GM Performance Parts will be the warranty.

It will be interesting to watch who takes this vehicle with 5 yr. 100K Powertrain Warranty and adds a 150 shot and tires to confirm how it runs.

More power to you

I won't be adding nitrous, but my warranty won't last any longer than the break-in period that's for sure

If you mod the engine & loss your warranty, do you loose every facet of the bumper to bumper. Reason I ask is this is a brand new car, built from the bottom up & im sure it will have alot of TSB's. I would much rather get them takin care of for free than have to pay for them since I voided my warranty because I wanted mid 12's.

Weakest link performance wise will probably be weight, it's what, 500 lbs. heavier than 4th gens?
