question for ZL1 owners thinking about ordering a 2018 Zl1 with the 10 speed auto. No other options. How is the ride in these cars? Rough-stiff or is it a decent riding car. Now, mind you, my toy car now is a 99 Z28 with stiff lowering springs so I'm not looking for a Cadillac type of ride but don't want something that cant be driven 100 miles on the freeway comfortably. |
Just put it in Tour Mode when on the highway and roll on! I just drove mine about 200 miles one way for a business trip this week. Tire noise on grooved pavement is my only complaint lol. Very nice ride, I am amazed every time I take mine out, honestly I have a hard time NOT taking it anywhere. |
thanks. that helps a ton |
Sure thing! For the record... I'm 53 years old, have a bad lower back and had 4 discs removed from my neck and a fusion done C3 thru C7, the ride is plenty enough compliant. Getting in and out is the rough part for me. |
61 here with bad knees. My Camaro is lowered and is fun getting in and out. thank goodness its a convertible |
Tour, Sport, Track - 3 completely different settings that affect steering, suspension, exhaust and trans. Tour mode with an A10 trans is the perfect daily driver and for long trips. Can't say enough about the transmission. It shifts smooth and un-noticed around town but go in to performance shifting mode or on the track and it's a beast. The 1LE version is where you want to watch out as there is no rubber in the suspension except tires and no mag ride for that tour mode feel. |
Any idea if the 2018 zl1 1le will have a auto option for 2018 /19 ? Really thinking of getting one but don't want the manual |

The 2018 1SS 1LE at the local Chevy dealer has Magnetic Ride according to the window sticker as part of the 1LE option package |
A bit of an old thread bump - yes you can get magnetic ride on an SS 1LE - NO you can't get it on a ZL1 1LE (Multimatic Spool dampers replace the magnetic ride shocks on the base ZL1). |
Agree in touring mode the ZL1 is a cool ride. |
Mag Ride was 1st introduced on the Camaro in the 2012 ZL1. With the 5 Performance Modes that go with it it's goes from mild to wild and is a huge help on the road track and autoX. Turn it all off on the drag strip. |
