LS1 question

LS1 question i have a question about LS1s. i have been told a few different things. some people have told me that all LS1s are aluminum blocks. someone else told me all corvettes have aluminum blocks but the earlier camaros and firebirds had both cast iron and aluminum blocks. he got an LS1 out of a 1999 firebird that has a cast iron block. was that not the origional engine or is it possible it came stock with an iron block? thanks for the help
