Default 2000 LS1 running without a Mass Air Flow Sensor

Have a 99 LS1 Camaro that we primarily use for bracket racing. It is still street legal, basically stock, with a 2500 stall convertor and 3:73 gears, and no cats.

Question is what affect will it have running with the Mass Air Flow sensor unplugged?

Just for fun I unplugged it and ran up the freeway and around town and noticed no change other then the service engine soon light came on which was expected.

The car is usually ran under Wide open throttle conditions and we are shopping for a programmer to run it as a speed density set up.

Want to get rid of the MAF sensor because it is very inconsistent and unreliable. 90% of the drag cars that are fuel injected are speed density and most of them are very consistent.

It just runs in Speed Density where it is taking readings from the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) Sensor. I have my car tuned for SD for a couple reasons, one of them being my MAF is junk!

It's actually the correct way to run in SD mode. Even with tuning software, you have to left the PCM check for the MAF and fail it. You can't just turn it off. You can turn the SES off though.
