skipping, and backfiring

skipping, and backfiring ok, so here recently my car has been skipping, which in turn has caused it to back fire. It only skips every once in a while, usually when its cold. It has done this before the tune, and after, so thats not the cause. I am pretty sure its plug wires so I'm going to change that, but what else could it be? Could it be K&N oil on the MAF? I never use much oil, but im just throwing out ideas? The car has new plugs, and new O2's (O2's have a warranty, so if the wires do not fix it next thing im going to do is yank them out and trade them in but they aren't throwing any codes)
Sorry for the long post, but if yall see anything I'm missing let me know. Just want to knock this problem out when i get done with finals so it doesnt cause any problems (aside from blowing the header gasket, which its already done from the backfires
