wierd problem

wierd problem ok my car is a beast on the road but seems that once my light comes on for low fuel it reallys screams and has so much more power. ive tried different fuels ,supreme , mid grade and low plus used octane booster and car seems to run better with the mid and low stuff could some thing be wrong since it has a tune upgrades and was supposed to run 93 from the factory or am i just nuts.
Stock from the factory they were tuned to be able to run on 87 octane in the LS1(just check the owners manual), but if you have a tune done odds are they tuned it for 91 or 93, so it wouldn't be safe to run with low or midgrade. The only thing that would change with less gas in the tank is your weight.
EDIT: just wanted to clarify. They CAN run 87, but obviously 91/93 is recommended (as the manual states, for the highest performance)
