Default Which 6.0 engine?

Hey guys, I am looking to buy a complete 6.0 LQ4 engine. In my local area, there are two available from private owners.. One is a 2001 and the other is a 2005.. Both engines have about 180K on them and the 01 supposedly has bearing knock and oiling issues.. the 05 supposedly runs fine. The 05 is $200 more expensive. So my question is, is there any benefit to buying the 05 engine over the 01 engine since I am rebuilding the whole thing anyway??? THanks

depends, how are you rebuilding it? Are you increasing the bore size? Honestly, who knows how bad the f'd up engine actually is on the inside, I'd just spend the extra $200, even if it is just for peace of mind. That way, when you tear it down, you don't have an expensive *** paper weight

Basically the whole things is getting a redo to go Forced induction...Pretty much basically I would be re-using the block, possibly the heads and rockers..water pump, coil packs, etc...Planned on making it a 408 with an F1 Procharger

Well out of the junk yard they want around $600 but you dont get accessories or computer with it.... The ones i am looking at..the 2001 is $600 and the 2005 is $800, and that includes all accessories except starter, and includes the computer and wiring and flexplate

If it were me, Id spend the extra money. The 01 could end up costing you alot more in machine work than you think if it has problems. Just my .02

Holy **** High 5's at 230+. Dam thats a beast. I would say just spend the extra $200 for piece of mind. This build is gonna cost you at least over 6k anyways.
