Default C5 corvette

Just wondering how bad you all think my car is going to fall on its face on take off

Sns stage 3cam
Stock 853 heads
Stock intake
Long tube headers

6speed

300m output shaft
G-force transmission main shaft
Z06 differential
Stock 3.42 gears

Next mods are 3.90gears and 243 heads

I'm about to finish the cam swap this week but everyone says it's going to kill my cars performance untill I at least do heads

That is crap, and "everyone" telling you this is wrong/ignorant.

You will obviously need a proper tune after the cam to take full advantage and regain proper driveability, but once that's done you will NOT notice a loss of performance at all....it will be quite the opposite. Heads would make it *better*, but they are not required to realize a dramatic gain in performance from a cam swap with stock LS1 heads.

I agree, it's not going to kill it's performance, it will definitely run better! I will say though, gears will help it out a lot, and if you can do those now, I would. A lot of people run stock heads on these cars and get great performance.

What year is your car and what intake is on it? Either way, you'll be happy! Once you get the heads on there and at least an ls6 intake (if you don't already), then it's going to scream

The car will have a very noticeably gain in performance with that cam while still using stock heads.
Also just curious, what do you mean by Z06 differential? C5 Z06 diff (exact same as base C5 diff other than shot-peened ring & pinion), or a C6 Z06 diff swap?

OP mentioned his car still has the stock 853 heads, which means its a '97 to early '00 C5 which stock had the LS1 intake (LS6 intake was standard '01 thru '04 on all base and Z06).

AH ok, idk how I missed that part. I would at least get an ls6 intake then.

Default About the diff

I shattered my stock diff at the track and broke the transmission main shaft messed up the bell housing and messed up the torque tube

So I found a 2002 c5 z06 diff for sale and got it and just installed harder output shafts
Im going to get the braces it needs before it goes back on the track

Just an FYI, 853 castings were only a '99-'00 product. '98 would have been an 806, and I can't remember if '97 was also 806 or yet a different number (perhaps 933???)

Even with an LS1 intake you will notice gains with the cam, not an overall loss (though the powerband will be shifted upward with that cam.) Getting another LS6-or-better intake would be a nice upgrade though.
