Where are we at with Gen V engine re-programming?

Been touring around looking at parts for a Jeep engine LS project,,
Gen 5 Direct injection engines, how far along is converting these to
standalone, reprogramming to get rid of BCM dependencies etc..
They are starting to become fairly common. I'd love a 5.3 AL motor with a
8 or 10 speed auto behind it.. Would make the jeep so much smoother offroad.
Whats the Ls1tech mind think?

More info,, see if there is any interest..
Specifically, is the Gen5 LS family,, getting to the point we can chop the harness down to a standalone and a Manual transmission and get a good tune thrown on to clean it up?
Or,, can the combo of the 2014+ engine and trans be easily(Well relatively.. ) converted to stand alone?
I have a opportunity to pick up a low mileage 2018 for cheap but if it can get divorced from the silverado it came out of,, not even cheap is worth it.

HPtuners has credit options up to 2020 models listed. So I imagine there is full programming available for the engine. The 10speed might throw a wrench into your cogs though. I know there is plenty out there on tuning the 6 and 8 speeds but I haven't seen much on the new 10 speeds yet. It's too new still.

The interesting thing is how few tuners seem to have embraced tuning the newest motors.. Gen IV seems to be where most have stopped, I'm assuming because you cant easily get the injectors for DI in upgraded sizes for bigger builds?
Been trying to decide if the investment in HP tuners is really worth it for 1 build. My jeep is intended to stay a daily toy and the stock HP would do me fine, I dont see needing a constant tune update once its got the unneeded features turned off..

I think it's more of "there's a lot of stuff here; where do I start" than just doing what the GEN III and GEN IV crowd has done all along. What I've learned by watching simple YouTube videos is just that.
A YouTube search finds a guy called Goat Rope Garage that helps people tune in the Gen V platform and helps people tune in HPTuners.
