Need Confirmation on Engine Code Hey Everyone,
I know this is a rookie question, but I found a 2500 Express Van with a “W” Engine Code on a 2001 year model. My research says this is a 5.7LS, can someone of you chime in here and let me know if you find the same?

Yep! I think you’re probably correct. The code I get is a 5.7l. But in my mind I didn’t think the factory was putting out old school 350 small blocks into any vehicles still. Once the LS1 came out I thought everything was using LS architecture by then.

A friend of mine bought a brand new 2002 Express van for his business back then, I can't remember if it was a 2500 or a 3500, but it definitely came stock with an old SBC 350ci. The vans were the last platform to get the LS/Gen III. In fact, even the HD/2500 trucks were still getting an SBC as late as 2000, IIRC (I think the 1500s got an LS in 1999, but not the 2500s).
I don't think any of the cargo vans got an LS/Gen III as early as 2001, regardless of 1500/2500/3500.
