Engine swap I have a 2011 Silverado 4X4 with a 4.8L VVT engine which is knocking, I recently bought a 2008 1500 2WD with a non VVT engine.
My question is can i swap a VVT to a non VVT without programing the ECM. I will be using the ECM from the 2011 which also has a manual transfer case with a auto trans. and the 07 non VVT was also a automatic but 4X2
I'm trying to do the swap on a shoestring budget because my job was cut and currently unemployed. I have an Autel scanner but do not have capabilities to program the computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Maybe. Maybe, the engine will start but throw a lot of unpredictable codes. You don't mention a transmission but that will absolutely matter. I see lots of PCM tuning and segment swapping in your near future . . . . sorry.

There is not going to be an issue with the transmission as it is going to stay the 4L60E 4X4 trans. that is in the 2011, only a engine swap Gen 4 4.8L with VVT to a Gen 4 NON-VVT
