Default Oil Pickup Install Issue

I have a 5.3L LS out of a SSR Chevy truck. I'm going to install it into my Jeep CJ7. I've removed the deep pan and am in the process of installing the Holley shallow pan. Of course the pickup tube is different. The tube conflicts with the metal cover that goes over the crankshaft (looking from the bottom of the engine). I can cut out a little of the corner of that cover to make it fit. What is that cover for, is it even needed, and is it going cause any problem if I trim it a little? I can't see any potential problems, but thought I'd ask before I start cutting.

Windage tray..You need it and having to clearance for the pickup tube shouldn't be a problem at all.

Done. I had to take off quite a bit of the windage tray. If I had read Holley's instructions more closely...
