I am looking at buying a 2008 Escalade parts only truck to take the engine and F around with parting out.

To ensure its really a 6.2, the head casting of 823 is visible without removing anything?

Is the 6.2L stamping visible?

I want to avoid buying something where someone swapped out the gold for silver or bronze so to speak lol

 

The 823 should embossed on both cylinder heads.
If the engine is out of the vehicle there is a 6.2 embossed on the block.

 

the displacement should be on the front of the block.
