Default Engine Rust

Can you guys help me?! i bought a 350 block and it has some rust and broke off bolts..so can somebody tell me how to get the rust off so i can start builiding it..and also about the bolts..plz help..thanks

eh?

I think you need to be a little more specific about where the rust is and what bolts you are talking about. I mean if the cylinder walls are rusted to buggery and the head bolts have snapped off it would be chepaer to chuck it and get another.

Pics would be a good idea

Well for the broken bolts you can do many things. Drill the bolt with a small drill bit and remove the broken part with an easy out. Or, you could use a torch to get it out. With the rust you could have the block bead blasted/painted/and machined. Hope this helps.

there is a pretty good bit of rust in the cylinder walls..i mean if i scrub hard enough some will come off..but it has some rust all over the engine..and the bolts are not head bolts..they are at the back and front..like where you can see the freeze plugs in the front..

Check around for a parts cleaning shop. My local Napa has a parts cleaning facility that dips large parts.
