Default CEL light?

I see a lot of LS1 cars in autotrader with a dash light on (running cars in pic). It is in the lower left hand corner. Is this the CEL or the "hand-brake" or "door" light? Where is the CEL and any other "bad" lights located?

Do you have a pic? I can't think of what you could be talking about.

going jsut from memory..some where on the left of the tach. The ses light is usually a cat. autozone checks them for free. If its a solid light..it wouldn't worry me...o2 senor, bad cat..ect. a flashing one is a mis fire..plugs, wires, bad coil..ect...a lot more of a bitch to find out what is wrong. my light has only been on 3 times in 40k miles of driving. twice for the drive side cat once for the passenger side. all covered under warranty, 8 years/80k for emission stuff.

are you sure its running and they dont just turn the key on to display the mileage? cause if you jsut turn the key over, the SES light above the speedometer will illuminate.

because they are shitty. My best guess..these cars run really rich from factory....so the cats have to do a lot of work to keep te cars clean. Most places would charge 75 or so to delete the code so yuo won't have to worry about it showing up again.

Here's something I made in Paint real quick. It's not the best picture but I think you’ll get the idea.

1. Low Coolant
2. Low Oil
3. Safety Belt Reminder
4. Air Bag Readiness
5. ASR Off
6. Brake
7. Check Gages
8. Low Trac
9. ABS Inop
10. Service Engine Soon
11. Security
12. Skip Shift

EDIT: I guess there is also a Service Vehicle light right above the Engine Oil Pressure Gage.

HAHA! it WAS the hand-brake light (I saw the brake was physically on, so I figured it was).

Is there any way to make a cat go out at oh....75K miles? I would not be happy if it died at 85K miles...

Pull 02's, add racing gas, smile but could they detect that? (obviously dont go in there with it still in the tank) and would that mess with injectors, ect?? I would be scared to do that. would Marvel Mystery oil added in decent quantities (not absurd to cause detonation, but a tad more than recommended) to the fuel kill them over 5K miles or so? (Damn im a sick person )

no, it wont hurt the injectors. the only thing it will hurt is the cats. the engine wont run worth 2 ***** in a sack without the O2's

don't worry about the cats, if they go, bring the car to have a sponser tune it out. my first went at 51k, second at 54k, third at 59k, driver side went twice...since then its been all good.

So tuning it out is just blinding yourself to heat build-up and hp loss, why not remove/replace?

well you should remove/replace. if the cat is not doing its job wether its plugged or not its still not doing its job. it cant be fixed so your only options is remove or replace.

they normally don't get plugged up. they normally gut themselves. Cats are already operating at a high temp... them failing won't make it much hotter..that is all assuming though.
