No thoughts on whether or not the cat being clogged may/may NOT be the issue? I HIGHLY doubt it is a wire-problem. If it were a wire problem the code would come back ASAP, not 20 miles down the road. Right?

if you had EGR, you could've checked for a clogged cat by a vacuum test at the EGR valve.

go rev the car to 7k and see what comes out. maybe a hairball.

Okay, called my friend at the MOPAR dealership. He says negative on the clogged cat. Says that the code I have is indicative of a wiring problem and he will call his friend at the chevy dealership and get the schematics and we will go over it with a volt-meter and find out what the issue is. Arg...wiring problems

scared of those.

You might have a wire that got chafed somewhere and is grounding out or giving a weak signal. The 2000's have a known catalytic converter issue that is covered under warrantee and the 2001 might also, I'm not sure. Did your Mopar friend look into the cat issue? My cats smell funny after 20-30 minutes of driving so I'm waiting for them to go bad and get GM to replace them. If you really think the cat is bad, take it to a GM dealer and try to get it replaced especially since you have a code.
