Default z06?

ok..i don't know anything about vettes but i was looking around and found a 04 z06 rolling chassis..and i seen that the tranny is in the back mounted to the rear end or whatever its called. is that like that on all of the newer vettes?

I think so. I know the Z06 uses the M12 transmission in place of the m6.

All C5 vettes are rear mount transmission the reason being this gives the car a more precise 50/50 weight distribution.

Yes all are in the back, transaxle mounted like LS1Lust mentioned.

1997 and up are all that way, so is the C5 ZO6 and the C6 ZO6. And like StealthZ06 mentioned the tranny's are called M12 while the non ZO6 Vette's have an M6 tranny. M12 has stepped up gearing, but the final drive/axle gear is still a 3.42.
