How hard...?
would it be for me to find a sponsor, you see I'm a college student and as a college student money isnt abundant as I would wish it was...
but any way I was hoping that I could get a sponsor so my project plans might be a bit easier on my wallet.
I can eventually get the funds myself but it would take a few monthes to do so..
btw I drive a 96 T/A M6
PS:btw I didn't really know where I should post, this so I put it under general

I can offer you advice on what NOT to do: don't fall for the carsponsorships.com scam. They claim to be able to get your car sponsored by aftermarket companies if you pay them 80.00 , then they send you "valuable decals" and offer you some parts at slightly less( VERY SLIGHTLY) than retail. Total ripoff , avoid at all costs.

Those sponsorships are just a scam that is succesfull because so many car guys have big egos. I new ricers fell for this ****, but c'mon...a domestic guy? There are real sponsorships out there, but they are for real race and show cars.

umm...do you just want a sponsor to supe up your street car?! because i highly doubt any company would be willing to give you parts or money just so you can drive a custom ride.
if you can save up some mod money for a few months and then afford the things you want then i say use that as your plan A and if you find some sponsors then thats just a bonus

Ask yourself this question, what benefit is there for a performance shop, company,
etc to sponsor you? What do you bring to the table?
A buddy of mine is able to get products free or at a minimal cost, but he is able to
get his vehicles in Motor Trend, MM&FF, GMHTP, etc. That is the payoff for the free parts...advertisement & marketing.
Are you known throughout the performance or LSx industry for either setting standards or for creating incredible vehicles? If you can't answer yes to a lot of these questions then you basically have no chance at getting sponsored.
Just my 2 cents.

UMI Performance gave me a great deal on parts for work-in-progress drag car because I've been a repeat customer of theirs and offered to run UMI decals on the car once it is finished. I was more than happy to do that.
unit213 is right....if you've got something to offer the sponsor, then they're more likely to help you out in some fashion.

Yea and another thing to think about is that theres probally thousands upon thousands of people like us who like to make our street cars faster and make them unique to our tastes exc. IF it was that easy we would all have sponsorships, like already stated about its the cars that are show cars that have the ability to make it in shows and magazines that get the sponsorships b/c they offer something to the company

You have to be something special if you think you're going to get free
****...or you have to know someone.

Seriously though... Unit's dead on. You need to prove yourself on your own before a shop will invest in you. In this game the only thing that will give a cash advance is a credit card...
